High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV):

The HOV Alternate would provide o ne concurrent flow (no barrier separation) lane per direction designated for HOV use (bus, vanpool, carpool or any vehicle meeting minimum passenger requirements such as "2 or more", "3 or more", or "4 or more" passengers per vehicle). Additional attributes of the HOV Alternate include:

The benefits of increased capacity by adding one lane per direction would only realized by HOV users. In addition, this is not considered a cost-effective option because it would not generate revenue.

SHA is recommending this alternate not be carried forward for further detailed study.
